Lauri's Daybook 3-1-10

For Today 3-1-10

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:  It is still dark out.  The business of school & work are starting to come through the neighborhood.  A few birds are chirping and dogs are barking.

I'M THINKING:  That I need to let go of my worries concerning my medical problems & trust in God.

I'M THANKFUL FOR:  My dear hubby, as he is continuing to help me take care of the kids, & our household, while I am trying to heal.

FROM THE LEARNING ROOM:  It's Monday so, that means homework will come home for the kids for the whole week.  Our goal is to get most or all of it done tonight so, the rest of the week can be left to reading & studying & playing, of course.

FROM THE KITCHEN:  Getting ready to make breakfast for the girls.  Lunch for me, not sure yet.  Dinner, grilled chicken tenderloins marninated in Italian dressing, squash, & one more veggie.

I'M WEARING:  Yoga pants & a long sleeve shirt with my daughters school logo on it.  Warm slippers & a blanket on my legs.

I'M CREATING:  Santuary in my home with Small Things from The Home Santurary blog.

I'M GOING:  To take kids to school, then drop something off to my doctors office.  Rest of day, no where but to pick the kids back up from school.  Love days where I don't have tons of running to do.  :)

I'M READING:  Haven't read a book in awhile.  Started reading "Home Song" by Thomas Kinkade again (never finished it the 1st time).  Also reading my devontionals.

I'M HOPING:  That I receive some good news on my labs this week.

I'M HEARING:  The TV and the hum of the refrig.

AROUND THE HOUSE:  Lots of cleaning.  Ughhh.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:  Birds singing in the morning.

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK:  Cleaning & laundry today.  Work Tues-Fri.  In the evenings, dinner, cleaning up, more laundry, & homework.  Hopefully I will feel decent enough to play some games with the kids this week, in the evenings.

FROM MY PICTURE JOURNAL:  My DH & I in Virgin Islands, Nov 09.  He was working there for 6 weeks & I got to go visit him for 8 worderful & beautiful days.

My Thoughts!!!

Ok just when I get teased this past weekend with upper 50 degree weather, the snow came back last night.  Ughhh.  I am so tired of this white stuff, I just want to scream.  I think I might.
I AM SOOOO TIRED OF SNOW!!!!
There, I am feeling much better now.  I am such a baby.  We only got like an inch & a half but, really come on Mother Nature.  The white stuff is pretty but, enough already.  :)

I just want the beauty of spring to show it's prettiness around me.  Spring is like a new beginning for me.  All the dead around comes back to life.  Just like the feelings of gloom come out of me , in the winter.  The beauty inside me starts to shine & grow again, in the spring.  God makes the outside beautiful and the inside/outside of me beautiful again.  I know I shouldn't need a season to bring the beauty out from inside of me but, it winter really gets me down.

I really can't stand the months of Jan & Feb.  I am always so blah during those months.  I am even more down this year because of my own going medical problems.  I need to let them go & offer them up to God.  I know he is having me "bare my cross" right now but, it is so hard to accept this.  I know God is telling me I need to take a step back & take a long hard look at myself & make some postitive changes in my life & the lives of my family.  Things have changed around here & we need to get back to the way they were before.  Praying more, Sunday worship, doing things for one another, spending time together, biting our tongues, & controlling our lack of patience (big one for me).

Putting this out here on my blog, makes me accountable for these things.  So, I am going to sit down with my family this weekend & have a talk with them or I may talk to each person individually, write things down, then have a family meeting.  I will start by talking to God first and writing down my faults & weakness and then my positive goals of change.

Please pray that I will accept "carrying my cross" for our Lord and please pray that God gives me & my family the strength & courage to make some positive changes in our lives.

"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST."

Lauri's Daybook 2-22-10

FOR TODAY 2-22-10

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:  Sun is starting to rise and we are going to have warmer temps.  48 degrees but the rain has come in with the warmer temps.  That is okay.  At least it will wash the salt away.

I AM THINKING:  About a dear friend that has passed away from Lou Gehrig's Disease.  This has been a long, hard battle for him & his family.  May they realize that he is now in a better place with his maker.

I AM THANKFUL FOR:  My time here with my family & friends.  Losing someone can be sooo hard.

I AM WEARING:  My sweatpants & flannel shirt, with my fuzzy robe over it & warm socks with slippers.

I AM REMEMBERING:  Fun times I use to have with my friend, that has passed on.  We were in school together for 12 yrs and we also hung out together outside of school.  RIP Matt.

I AM GOING:  Just dropped girls off to school.  Need to go to store later.  After that, no where.

I AM CURRENTLY READING:  Catching up on my fav blogs and also reading my daily devotions.

I AM HOPING:  That my medical problems will come to a halt.  Still not 100% back to normal yet.

ON MY MIND:  My friends family that are dealing with his passing and my medical problems.

NOTICING THAT:  The birds really love this warm front that has came through.  Too bad it is not staying, going to get colder in the next couple of days.  Ughhhh.  Hurry spring, get here.

PONDERING THESE WORDS:  "I can do all things through Christ."  This is verse that I always go by, day in and day out.

FROM THE KITCHEN:  Breakfast was just dougunts this morning.  Kids were very excited.  Lunch for me will be a sandwich & fruit.  Dinner-meatloaf, mashed potatoes, & green beans.  This was my Jellybean's request.

AROUND THE HOUSE:  Need to get started on my weekly cleaning.  Won't be able to get it all done, as I am still a little weak.  Also need to do some major laundry.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:  Watching a movie with my kids & hubby.

FROM MY PICTURE JOURNAL:  The beautiful view that God gave us last week.  Wow, it was an amazing view.

COMPANY GIRL 2-19-10

Hello all my fellow Company Girls.  I hope everyone had a wonderful week.  Let's grab a cup of joe or your favorite drink of choice and relax, while getting caught up on other Company Girls.

Not much has gone on with us this week so, my post will be a little boring.  I was finally realeased to go back to work.  Thank goodness.  Don't get me wrong, I would love, love, love, to stay home with my kiddos.  However, having to stay home and have limited activity, per doc's orders, is not so much fun.  Staying home with a foley bag in, not so much fun.  So, I am glad to get back to work.  I went back on Tuesday and Wednesday, I only worked a 1/2 a day.  I think I over did it, going back to a full day on the first day back.  Thank God, I have a very understanding boss.  That does make my life easier.  :)

Like I said above, I was release on Monday, to go back to work.  I only work about 27 hours & I have a office job so, it is not too bad, having to work outside of the home.  I love the adult interaction and I work for a Catholic Religious Organization.  So it does my heart good to know I am working at a place that spreads hope to our world.  :)
Anyway, back to the medical deal.  The urologist took the leg catether out Mon. and put me on some meds that are suppose to stimulate my bladder.  I am still not voiding on my own yet and I have to self-cath myself, every 3 or 4 hours.  It is a pain in the bootie to have to do this because I have to take all of my materials to work or anywhere else I will be gone for more than 3 hours But, self-cathing will make my bladder muscles stonger so, I guess I shouldn't complain.
The my coworkers have an on going joke about me.  When they see me walking back to the private bathroom, in our chapel, they always say, "watch out, here comes the bag lady, on a mission."  This is because I carry my catether materials in a stylish bag & I have to walk past everyone to get to my place of privacy.  I don't mind the jokes, it makes this not seem like such a big deal.  Laughter is good, even if it is at my expense.  :)

Kids were out of school Mon & Tues.  Mon they were out anyway because of President's Day & conferences but, they got cancelled due to the snow storm we got Sun. evening.  So they enjoyed playing in the snow.  Tues. was called off, due to the snow.  Now they have to wait until June 1st to get out for summer vacation.  They finally went back Wed. and man ol man, were they hyper when they got home Wed. afternoon.  I guess they missed spending time with their friends.

We normally have Religious Education on Wed. night but, we were having Mass (Lent) for class this week.  I am a 1st grade teacher so, I have to go as well.  I am restricted from teaching until I am voiding on my own again.  The reason for this is, because they only have public bathrooms & doc said if I don't have a private & sanitary place to do my self-cath, then I can't be there.  The class is only for an 1-1/2 hrs but, he doesn't want me to take any chances on having to void.  He also doesn't want me around a lot of kids, due to infections.  I guess I need to be in a bubble.  LOL.  The kids still go to their class every week but, Wed, I just took them to Mass myself.  Thank God, I have understanding people that I teach with and that there is someone to take over my class, until I am completely healed.

Friday, my stepson was at his mom's (her weekend), my other son was at his Nanny's and my two girls spent the evening with their other Nanny & her friends, at the fish fry.  They love going there but, I couldn't go.  So, my hubby & I had a dinner at a local fish place here on the river and it was soooo relaxing to have a night out.  It was kind of like a date but, just not planned.  My 3 biological kids are suppose to be with their dad (grandparents) this weekend but, he had a manager quit on him so, he has to work her hours.  So my son went there Fri. and my girls are going Sat.  They can be a bit to handle all 3 at a time for my ex's parents so, that is why they are going on different nights.  I never understand why they act so differently around him & his parents compared to here.  I guess it is because they don't see them as much as they see me, which is sad, but my ex works crazy hours.  Thank God, my kids have a wonderful relationship with my hubby.  Don't get me wrong, he will never replace their daddy but, it is very good that they always have a "father" at home.  And as they say it, "we are special, we have two daddy's."

Well, I have been babbling way too much, SORRY!!!.

Now, please  go refill your cup and go visit other Company Girls @ http://www.homesanctuary.com/
Have a wonderful weekend.

GOD BLESS!!!!

My Daybook 2-15-10

For Today 2-15-10

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:  Beautiful snow is still falling.  It is a bright day with all the snow around.  Not too busy in the neighborhood, as school is out & a lot of people stayed home today, due to the snow.

I AM THINKING:  How frustrated I was that our Valentine's Day movie date got ruin by a bunch of teens.  I can't believe how disrespectful the youth is today.   They were talking, laughing, & hollering very loudly.  We ended up leaving and getting our money back for the movie & the snacks, plus an extra $16.00 for a movie later, that will be on them.

I AM THANKFUL FOR:  Finally feeling much better.

I AM WEARNING:  Black nylon pants, white long sleeve t-shir & grey fleece jacket.  I have to wear baggy clothes to my doc appt, since I still have my catether in.  Ughhh.

I AM REMEMBERING:  How thankful that I am that my medicial problems are not as severe as we thought they might be.  I am also thankful I didn't have to stay in the hospital, more than 24 hrs last week.  God is good.

I AM GOING:  To my doctor appt.  Then I think hubby & I will go out to eat since our movie got ruin last night, from some loud mouth teens.

I AM CURRENTLY READING:  Nothing right now except my devontionals.

I AM HOPING:  That I will be able to handle all the work that will be waiting for me when I go back tomorrow (Tues), after being off for 2 weeks.

ON MY MIND:  How disrespectful our youth is today.  It really disturbs me because I know my kids do not act like this.  My boys have been helping the older folks around us, when it snows by shoveling their drives.  Thank God I am raising caring boys.

FROM THE KITCHEN:  Nothing hubby & I had dinner out at Cracker Barrel.  Yummy.  Kids are just going to eat whatever tonight.  Relaxing night for us.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:  Birds chirping in the morning.  Even on cold days.

FROM MY PICTURE JOURNAL: Kids enjoying another snow day.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!

Love is definetly in the air here in our household.  My DH got up this morning and made us a wonderful Valentine's Day breakfast.  It was soooo yummy.  He is such a great cook.

Later we gave the kids their gifts and then DH took the kids to church.  I stayed home due to the fact that I still have a catether in.  I do not feel comfortable being out in public, with this thing in.  Ughhh!!

Tonight DH is going to make us a Valentine's Day dinner.  We are having port tenderloin, cheesy potatoes, and veggies.  My man definetly knows how to spoil us here.

I haven't told DH yet but, I am taking him to see a movie tonight.  I want to do something by ourselves so, mom is coming to stay with the kids.  This will be a much needed break, after the last month we have had with my medicial problems.  I decided to go, only because it will be dark so, no one can see the bag I have to wear on my leg.  Ughhh again.

Here are a few pics of the kiddos having their Valentine's.

I hope everyong has a lovely Valentine's Day.  And whether you are married or single, please tell someone how much you love them today.  Love makes the world go around.  Have a good one.

Company Girl 2-10-10; When It Rains, It Pours!!!

I have had to take some time away from blogging, not that I did it that much anyways. And that is besides the point.  Anyway, I went in Mon the 1st of Feb. to have my gall bladder taken out, all went well with the surgery.  However, I had to go back to see the General Surgeon because my stomach was swollen & my back was killing me.  I could hardly walk.  I was in sooo much pain.  More pain then when I had 3 c-sections.
He admitted me into the hospital, mainly for pain control, while we were waiting on a CT scan to be preformed.  Well, I was retaining my urine in my bladder & it caused my bladder to descend & I had urine backed up in my kidneys.  Yuck, I know.  My potassium is low and so was my blood count.

Anyway, apparently I had yet another bladder infection during my recovery of my gall bladder surgery.  I have now been released from the hospital as of yesterday and I am now under the care of my urologist, again.  I was sent home with a foley bag (leg catethier) until I see the urlologist.  I am sure I will be put on a medicine again & I will have to go back to doing my own catethier everyday, until I am all new, once again.  At least this is what I am praying for.

So girls, once again, I am asking for prayers please.  I really need to get back to my usual self again.  I am tired of being in pain, being aggreviated with everyone around me, and tired of just being tired, all the time.  I am usually a very happy and healthy person and things don't normally get me down but, this time, it has hit me.  I am down.  Please send some prayers my way.

As for me, now that I am back home.  I am going to start reading my devotions again, starting later this evening, when I can have some quite time to myself.  The kids have been out of school, for two days, due to snow, so quite time is impossible for me right now.
Hubby is at the store now, after working & he is going to taking care of dinner tonight.  I made sure homework was done because I am sure they will go back tomorrow.  I made them do tonight's homework, even though they weren't in school.  They get all their assignments for the whole week, on Monday's.  This makes our lives so much easier.  I am going to take it easy the rest of the evening and let DH handle the lovely children.  :)

Well, that is all I have for now.  I will try to touch base by this weekend, with some up beat news.  At least all of my problems are going on during the winter months so, I don't have to be down & out during the beautiful summer months.  See, I am thinking postitive already.  Thanks for listening to me complain.  I feel better already!!!
