My Daybook

FOR TODAY:  Monday, Aug. 30, 2010

Outside my window:  The sun is rising & it is going to be a cloudy day.  The heat is coming back today, thru Thurs.  Ughhh.  So tired of this heat.  Ready for fall temps.

I am thinking:  About my good friend & her husband.  He is having open heart surgery Tues. & he is only 34 yrs old.  They had a major scare with him last Fri. morning.

I am thankful for:  My mother/her brother/her sister & husband, all making it to Myrtle Beach safely.

From the learning rooms:  We are starting something new this year at home.  My kids have to go Religious Ed. classes on Wed. evening to become Catholic.  This is because they go to public schools.  I am going to start teaching them the Rel Ed here at home.  They will still have to go on Wed. evening because the Arch Bishop will not allow Rel Ed. to be a home school subject.  I really wish they would because I don't feel my kids are being taught correctly in the Rel Ed. classes.  So, I am going to have them go to their class then come to mind, another evening.  This is work in progress, right now.

From the kitchen:  Baked Spaghetti with Garlic Bread & Salad.  Yummo!!!

I am wearing:  T-shirt & shorts.

I am creating:  A curriculum for my kids Rel Ed. class here at home.

I am going:  Take the girls to school, to the store, then later pick my boy/his friend up from school & then the girls.  Later in the evening, need to take J-Bird to cheer practice.

I am reading:  Cedar Cove Series from Debbie McComber

I am hoping & praying:  That Hurrican Earl stays away from Myrtle Bch.  My mom & her family is there.  Also praying the my friends heart surgery is successful.

I am hearing:  The "Early Show" listening to the story about the young motorcycle rider that was killed this weekend in Indy.  Such a sad story.  My prayers go out to his family & to the other rider that hit him.

Around the house:  Cleaning, laundry, cleaning, laundry.  Did I mention cleaning & laundry.  Monday's are my cleaning day.  Yuck.  Don't feel like doing it today.

One of my favorite things:  Watching my J-Bird cheer.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Tonight, cheer practice for J-Bird & baseball practice for BMX Kid.  Tues, J-Bird has tumbling practice.  Homework all week.  Wed. more baseball practice.  Thurs. going to make a roast in the crockpot & take it to my friend & her boys.  She is back & forth from the hospital.  Sat. & Sun. we will be spending the weekend at the BMX track.  BMX kid is racing in the Grand Nationals.  Woo hoo.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing:

8-25-10

1. What is your favorite Mexican dish?  This is easy, Taco's.  Love them!!

2. When you were a kid, did you get started on your homework right away after school, or did you procrastinate?  Oh I was a huge procrastinator.  I guess that is why I make sure my kids do it as soon as they are home.

3. What is your favorite store for home furnishings?  Recliners.

4. When you were young, did you like school lunches?  Yes, cause my mom was the lunch manager & back then they were made from scratch.  Nothing processed, like now.

5. Is religion a crutch?  Sometimes for me it is.

6. In your region, what is the "big" (most popular in the community or state) high school sport?  Definetely baseball/softball.

7. Do you consider yourself rich?  With money no, but I am rich in so many other ways.  Example wonderful family & friends.

8. Which of these would you have the best chance for success in administering:  Probably CPR, even though I have never had to.
A) CPR
B) Heimlich Maneuver
C) Changing a flat tire

9. Which dance would you prefer to learn & why:  Salsa.  Because it is so sensual looking.  Of course I would only dance the Salsa with my DH.  :)
A) Salsa
B) Hip Hop
C) Waltz
D) Swing

10. What's the worst news you've ever delivered to someone?  Telling my mom that my unwed, didn't even have a boyfriend, was pregnant, at 22.  She still lived at home with my parents & wasn't the type to go out on many dates.  She was scared to death to tell her, so I told mom she needed to go talk to her & told her why.  Mom handled it better then I thought she would.

11. Name something you learned in college that had nothing to do with classes or academics.  Don't try something, just because someone else says it is o.k.  And no I am not talking drugs either.

12. New variation on an old question: If there's a song in your head that just won't get out, what is your favorite (or most repeated) line in that song?  Thank God for unanswered prayers.

This was fun.  Now go visit Linda at:  2nd Cup of Coffee for more answer to the Random Dozen.

Have a blessed day.

I'M THINKING:  How I wish I could be a stay at home mamma.  At least I only work Tues-Fri and only 25 hrs a week.  I get to take my kids to school & be home for homework & dinner & the rest of the evening.

I'M THANKFUL FOR:  The wonderful weekend my DH & I had with my girls.  We went walking downtown on the waterfront & went shopping.  The weather was beautiful.

FROM THE LEARNING ROOM:  I am sure my kids will bring homework home this week, with it being the 2nd week of school.

FROM THE KITCHEN:  Chicken n Dumplings are cooking in the crockpot.  Haven't decided if I am going to make corn fritters or corn bread yet.

I'M WEARING:  T-shirt with BMX Kid's allstar team on it.  Black shorts.  Bumming/cleaning clothes.

I'M CREATING:  Not much.

I'M READING:  Some of my favorite blogs.

I'M HOPING:  That the kids don't bring a lot of homework home this week.  It is going to be too beautiful out this week.  Want to go walking & bike riding with the kids.  Also hoping J-Birds new coach works out today and the team gives her a chance.

I'M HEARING:  "As the World Turns" on the TV & the air conditioning running.

AROUND THE HOUSE:  Tidying up around here & doing laundry.  Homework later, then practices.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:  Walking around downtown waterfront, sooo peaceful.

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK:  J-Bird has cheer practice, BMX Kid has baseball practice.  I am sure kids will have homework all week.  DH is working in another town, but he is at least home in the evenings, even if it is later then normal.  J-Bird has tumbling tomorrow.  BMX kid will have practice Wed.  Then the rest of the week is just homework, until Sat.  J-Bird has to cheer at a game on Sat. morning.

A PICTURE OF THOUGHT, I'M SHARING:

My Daybook, has returned!!!

FOR TODAY
Wed. 8-18-10

Outside my window:  Sun is starting to rise & it looks to be a beautiful day.  Business of the day is happening around the neighborhood with the buses/cars going by.

I am thinking:  That I am so grateful the 100 degree temps are gone this week.  Still going to be in the low 90's, but that is much better then a 100.

I am thankful for:  My kids having a safe & wonderful first day of school.

From the learning rooms:  2nd day of school today.  1st day was successful, with lots of paperwork for me to fill out.

From the kitchen:  Tonight, I think we will have Shake & Bake pork chops, veggies, & mashed potatoes.  Yummy.

I am wearing:  T-shirt, shorts.  Gotta get ready to put my work clothes on.  :-(

I am creating:  Simplicity by organizing our lives, now that school is back in session.

I am going:  To work, after I drop the girls off to school.  Then later to J-Bird's cheer practice.

I am reading:  One of Debbie McComber's books in her Cedar Cove series & my daily devotions.

I am hoping:  That things work out for my J-Bird's cheer team.  They had a coach quit on them last night.  Makes me sooo angry when an adult makes a commitment to a children's team, then leaves them hanging hi & dry.

I am hearing:  The TV in the background & the humming of my refrig.

Around the house:  Getting ready to wake the kids up for school, then work, dinner and hopefully no homework for the kids.

One of my favorite things:  The smell after a good rain.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  J-Birds's cheer practice, BMX kid has baseball practice tonight too.  After that nothing for the rest of work week.  And hopefully no homework, the rest of the week either.  Sat, J-Bird has to cheer at a football game at 9:00am, ughhh.  Sat. night, hubby & I are going on a date.  :-)

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
What a life Cuddles has!!!

Company Girl- I'm not back just yet.

Hey all you Coming Girls, hope you all are doing well.  Summer is almost coming to an end for our household.  Next Tuesday our schools are back in session.  I am kind of glad & kind of sad.  Glad cause the kids need to get back in their routines & get those brain cells working again.  Sad cause that just means the rest of the year will come flying by.  It seems like to me that once school starts, the holidays are just around the corner.

I will be back on here a week from Monday.  Monday's are usually when I do most my posting.  I will put some pics on here of what we have been doing most of the summer, which was mostly baseball.

Anyway, see ya in a week & 1/2.  Going to enjoy my weekend & my Monday off, with the kiddos.

Have a great weekend and GOD BLESS!!
