My Daybook

For today...Monday, May 16, 2011

Outside my window... More rain & cooler weather.  It is only 47 degrees here.  Crazy weather we have in OH Valley.  It was close to 90 last week.

I am thinking... that I have done pretty good on my diet & working out last week.  Only had one mess up with junk food.

I am thankful ... that my nephew only has 10 more days until he graduates from Basic Training & Military Police training for the Army.  So excited I get to see him soon.

I am wearing... blue nylon pants, BMX t-shirt & slippers.

I am hearing... refrig kicking on, t.v & the birds chirping outside my window.

I am planning... meals for this week.

I am creating... simplicity in our lives.  Decided that my J-Bird was going to sit out for 11-12 season of Allstar cheer.  Just too much money & not enough time for it this yr.  I will let her cheer in the youth league for football though.  That's plenty for her to be involved in.

I am going... to work today.  Taking off tomorrow, since the kids are out of school.

I am reading... Another one of Debbie Macomber's book.  "Manning Brothers."

I am hoping/praying... that gas prices drop.  We are at $4.09 right now.  This is really putting a strain on the pocket book.  :(

From the learning rooms... homework.

Noticing that ... people seemed very grumpy at the grocery store yesterday.  It is probably because of all the price increases.

From the kitchen... Easy night tonight.  Hot dogs & Mac n cheese.  Both boys have to be at their ball fields @ 5:00.

Around the house... laundry & cleaning tomorrow.

One of my favorite things... going to the zoo with my kids.  MIL got us a season pass, so we can go as much as we like.

A few plans for the rest of the week... tonight-BMX kid has a baseball game & Bubba has a softball game.  Softball may get cancelled cause of wet fields.  Tues-kids are out of school, so I think we are going to go to the zoo.  We will take a picnic lunch too.  Wed-Fri, not much going on.  Staying home for once.  Sat-BMX kid has baseball tourney game (if they win tonight).  He also has State & local BMX race to attend.  We have also been invited to a birthday party.  Not sure if we will make that one.  Sun-church, then later Bubba has softball practice.

From my picture journal...  DH & I.  Most recent pic of us.  Terrible pic of me though.  Yesterday, we celebrated our 7th anniversary.  Love this man so much & I am looking forward to many more happy years with him.  God blessed me with a great man.  :)

Today is a BIG day here in KY.  The good ol' 137th KY Derby and I get to spend it with my family & friends.  I wasn't going to go cause I had a touch of something with my stomach, but with plenty of pepto, it has gotten better.

Anyway, here is the horse I like.
Mucho Macho Man
I like this horse because he is the youngest horse out there.  He is not even 3 yrs old yet.  His trainer has touched my heart.  The other reasons I like this horse:  a) the trainer is a woman & b) the trainer just recovered from a heart transplant. C)the horse was born without a heart & they prayed over him after he got his heart & he jumped up & started running. d) the trainer was born on the 13th & the horse is in the 13th position today.  They both deserve to win the KY Derby.

I do not bet.  I just like to play in the jackpots, where you draw a name.  The only time I have ever won was in 2009.  I won $100 in a jackpot at work.  The horse was Mine that Bird.  This year I drawed two long shots at work. Pants on Fire & Twinsprired.  If one of these win, I will win a big $38.00.  Woo hoo.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good Sat and keep your fingers cross that I win at least one jackpot today.  GO BABY GO!!!

My daybook

For today...Monday, May 2, 2011

Outside my window... Raining again.  We had one day off from the rain, but it came back yesterday.  Ughhh.

I am thinking...that I really need to starting eating right & working out again.  While taking care of my mother, I wasn't able to get out much.  I have gained too much.  Emotional eating will do that to you.  :(

I am thankful ... that the rain stopped for a short while yesterday, for my baby's First Communion.  She was in a pretty white dress.

I am wearing... blue nylon pants & baseball t-shirt.

I am hearing... t.v & the birds chirping outside my window.  Love that sound.

I am planning... nothing today.  Going to relax after our longggg weekend.

I am creating... simplicity.

I am going... Picking my girls up from school & that is it...thank goodness.

I am reading... not much time to read right now, but going to start back soon.

I am hoping/praying... that things don't happen, now that Bin Laden was killed.  Scared there my be more terrorist attacks.  Also praying BMX kid has a great time on his 8th grade trip to WA/VA.  Going to miss him dearly though.

From the learning rooms... homework for Big O.  Rest of kids are doing more testing for a few days.

Noticing that ... the birds are the only creatures happy with all this rain we are getting.

From the kitchen... Leftovers from Mark's Feed Store.  They catered Big O's First Communion party yesterday.  Yummo.

Around the house... Absolutely nothing.  House is cleaned from the party.  :)

One of my favorite things... Spending days outside with my kids.  Looking forward to doing this, once this rain stops.

A few plans for the rest of the week... tonight-BMX kid has a baseball game tonight, if it is not canceled.  Tues-work, then BMX kid has a ballgame.  Wed-work, then BMX kid has a meeting for his trip next week.  Thurs-J/Bird has a game, but she only gets to watch cause she has a broken arm.  :(  Fri-Is Oak's Day here in KY.  Might be going to a friends house after work.  Sat-DERBY DAY!!!  Going to spend the day w/ my family & friends at a Derby party.  Can't wait.  Sun-Church.  Dropping BMX kid off for his 8th grade trip to WA/VA, then going to visit my mother's grave.  Not looking forward to this Mother's Day w/o her here with me.  Going to be one of the hardest days of my life.  Later, hoping to go out to eat with my DH & the rest of my kiddos.

From my picture journal...
BMX Kid came is 1st in Local & State races this weekend.

J-Bird broke her growth plate in two places.  My poor baby.
Big bro (Bubba) w/ Big O.

Big O on her special day.  First Holy Communion.  She looks like an angel.

My daybook

For today...Monday, April 25, 2011
Outside my window... Rain, rain, & more rain.  We have terrible flooding going on here in KY.  So sad.  More rain coming tonight thru Wed.

I am thinking...that we are getting all this nonstop rain now & come summer we will be having to deal with drought's.  Ughhh.

I am thankful ... that my DH was able to dig up a trench in our backyard, so all this rain can go to the ditch, instead of my basement.

I am wearing... gray nylon pants & orange t-shirt.

I am planning... my youngest child's (Big O) First Communion party for Sunday.  This is such an important day for her walk in Catholic faith.

I am creating... a menu for Sunday.

I am going... nowhere tonight, too much rain coming down.  :(

I am reading... not much time to read right now.

I am hoping... my nephew who is still in Military Police training is doing o.k.  He was not allowed to come home for his grandma's funeral.  If he did, he would have to start all over in his training.  His Nanny would not have wanted that.  His graduation was so important to her.  Bless his heart.  Also hoping & praying that my daughters elbow is not broke.  She fell yesterday morning & the Children's hospital put it in a temporary cast until Wed.  There was too much swelling & they think there might be a break under the swelling.  Praying it is not broke.

From the learning rooms... homework for Big O.  Boys & J-bird don't have any homework cause of CATS testing.

Noticing that ... people all over are helping others during this terrible flooding we are going though.  Dear God, please keep everyone safe.

From the kitchen... tonight we went out to White Castle's.  Rest of the week, is being planned.

Around the house... need to start spring cleaning, just because & for Big O's 1st Communion party.  Also going to put a memorial for my mother in our cabinet in the living room.  DH is making us a memorial garden in our backyard.  She will be so pleased.

One of my favorite things... watching the birds play in the water, after a rain.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Tues:  work & home with the kids.  Wed:  work, then need to take J-Bird to her follow up appt. with the orthopedic doc.  Later kids have Religious Ed class.  Thurs:  work, BMX kid has baseball practice.  Fri:  Nothing planned yet.  Sat:  Spring cleaning all day & BMX Kid's baseball game.  Sun:  Big O's First Communion Mass & party.  Later Bubba has softball practice & BMX Kid has a baseball game.

From my picture journal... boat docks about 5 min. away from my house.  Good thing they have a flood wall.  Scary.  Where the trees & poles are, is the lower parking lot is underwater.  Side walk is almost to the playground.

Company Girl-Gone for awhile.

Good Friday everyone.  Hope you all are stopping through out your day to think about what today is all about.
Romans 5:6-8 "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
I have not been around for awhile.  I have been taking care of my sick mother since March 12th.
My heart is hurting because on April 13th @ 12:20am, God decided to take her to heaven.  We now have a wonderful, beautiful, & the most caring angel watching over us.  Rest in Peace my beautiful mother.

“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
”

For today...Monday...March 7th

Outside my window... cloudy & a cold 32 right now, suppose to warm up to 52 later though.

I am thinking...that I need to start stock piling on groceries, because of these gas prices.  Ughhh.

I am thankful ... that I have healthy happy kids & my DH & I have jobs.

I am wearing... gray nylon pants, nike t-shirt, & my socks.

I am planning... to clean up a little around the house.

I am creating... a weekly dinner schedule.  With my kids starting spring sports & my daughter is still in cheerleading until the end of the month, I need to organize dinner better.  Need to do this still, didn't have time last week.

I am going... store, pick up kids from school, later gym.

I am reading... not much time to read right now.

I am hoping... that my nephew, who is in the Army's basic training stays safe this week.  Left at 3am to spend a week in the woods, for FTX training (field training exercise).  Please keep him in your prayers.

From the learning rooms... a week of homework for all 4 of the kiddos.

Noticing that ... tulips are starting to pop up in yards & the grass is starting to turn green.  Yay spring!!!

From the kitchen... Lasagna, garlic bread, & salad.

Around the house... cleaning, laundry, & cooking dinner.

One of my favorite things... rainy Sunday's, when I don't have things to do.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Off from work today, tonight, J-Bird has cheer practice & I am going to the gym.  Tues. work, cheer practice & gym again.  BMX Kid has baseball practice.  Wed. work then we will be going to church with my kids Religious Ed class for Ash Wed.  Thurs. work, J-Bird has softball practice.  Fri. work, J-Bird has her final cheer practice for Dragon Youth Cheer, & I will be at the gym.  Sat. J-Bird is competing in her final competition with Dragon Youth (she still cheers for her All-Star team though).  BMX kid has a scrimmage baseball game.  Later Sat. I am working a concert for J-Bird's All-Star team.  Going to be a long, busy Sat.  Sun. church & I am sure some kind of practice.  If not, I am going to rest with my family.

From my picture journal... J-Bird at her first competition with her All-Star team.  They came in 3rd place.  Pretty awesome.  They only had 3 weeks to prepare for it.  Way to go girls.

Also below is a pic of some of the gifts I received from work & home for my BIG 40th birthday.  DH & kids took me to dinner Fri. and Sat. DH & I went to see a movie.  What a wonderful birthday weekend.

Lauri's day book

For today...Wed. March 2, 2011

Outside my window... sun is starting to rise & it is going to be a beautiful, sunny, 58 degrees later.  Spring is on it's way.  :)

I am thinking... that I probably need to start stock piling things from the grocery in my basement & garage before prices are unbearable.  Good Morning America just said with gas prices going up, that will make shipping cost go up, which will increase cost of things at the store.  That is just too scary, with how high prices are already.

I am thankful ... for mine & my hubby's job.

I am wearing... blue nylon pants, baseball t-shirt, robe & slippers.

I am planning... a day of cleaning up & a new hair cut.

I am creating... a weekly dinner schedule.  With my kids starting spring sports & my daughter is still in cheerleading until the end of the month, I need to organize dinner better.

I am going... store, hair appt, & gym.

I am reading... not much time to read right now.

I am hoping... all the fighting ends soon in Libya.  I am praying for the innocent people daily.

From the learning rooms... J-Bird has Reading, Big O has a story (1 paragraph) to write, Bubba has Lang Arts & Math, BMX kid needs to study for a Spanish test.

Noticing that ... the birds are starting to sing in the morning.  A sign that spring is on it's way.

From the kitchen... Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans & rolls.  Yummo!!!

Around the house... cleaning, laundry, & cooking dinner.

One of my favorite things... the sun rising & coming through the windows.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Well, Mon & Tues I worked & J-Bird had private tumbling practice & cheer practice.  Today, I am off, but have lots to do (cleaning, store, hair appt. & gym).  BMX Kid has baseball practice, & later kids have Religious Ed classes.  Thurs, J-Bird has her first softball practice & BMX Kid has baseball practice.  Hopefully I can get to the gym.  Fri, is my BIG 40th birthday & I get to spend it at J-Bird's cheer practice.  I think DH & kids are taking me to dinner before we go to practice.  Sat, kids are going to their dad's & stepson is going to his moms, so DH & I are going on a date.  J-Bird also has softball practice.  Sun, J-Bird has her 1st competition with the All-Star team @ the Convention Center.

From my picture journal... J-Bird at her competition last Sat. for Dragon Youth Cheer.  They came in 3rd out of 6 teams.  Pretty good considering we have 4 & 5 yr olds on the team & they were competing against 9-11 yr olds.  Way to go girls.  Very proud of you all.

Everyone have a great rest of the week.
